You may have been told that meditation means emptying your mind. The Satya Awakening Technique™ gives your mind something to do: a mantra, a few affirmations, your attention and a gentle touch.
It's the practice my Guru, VillyMa, taught me, and the one my whole journey grew from. Here's exactly what it is.
What Does "Satya" Mean?
Satya is a Sanskrit word that means Truth: not a fact or an opinion, but the ultimate Truth of who and what you really are.
VillyMa describes the practice as the search for that Truth. Beneath your name, your job, your history and every label you've collected, what are you? The practice isn't designed to answer that question with an idea. It's designed to let you experience the answer.
In the language of this site, that experience is Union with the Divine: the sense of separation between "you" and the Divine dissolves, and what remains is stillness, peace, love, joy and oneness.
What Is the Satya Awakening Technique™?
The Satya Awakening Technique™ is a guided form of Kundalini meditation that works directly with your chakra energy system to awaken Kundalini and reconnect you with the Divine.
It was taught to me by my Guru, VillyMa. In her own introduction to the practice, she calls it "a very simple technique, almost a technology," a tool you can use to unlock the doors of perception and awaken your true self. She recommends a daily dose of it to everyone.
That simplicity is the point. You sit comfortably, follow the guidance and allow your experience to unfold. There's nothing to force and nothing to believe.
What Does the Satya Awakening Technique™ Do?
The Satya Awakening Technique™ is the first step of the wider Satya Awakening System™.
It is designed to do three things:
- Awaken. Gently and safely awaken the dormant Kundalini energy at the base of your spine.
- Clear. Clear energetic blockages from your chakras and channels, creating a clear pathway for Kundalini to rise.
- Raise. Raise Kundalini through that pathway to your Crown Chakra, where your connection with the Divine is restored.
To understand why that matters, it helps to know VillyMa's lamp metaphor. A lamp only gives light when its cord is plugged into a power source. Kundalini is the cord that connects you to the Divine. The Satya Awakening Technique™ is simply a way of plugging it back in.

What Are the Four Tools of the Satya Awakening Technique™?
The four tools of the Satya Awakening Technique™ are mantra, affirmations, attention and touch. Every Satya Awakening session uses the same four simple tools. You don't have to memorize anything. In a guided session, you're walked through each one, chakra by chakra.
- Mantra. The mantra Om Satya Om. Om is the ancient sacred sound of creation; Satya means Truth. Together, it's a request to enter Union with the Divine, and a vibration directed into each chakra to help dissolve blockages.
- Affirmations. Short, simple affirmations spoken at each chakra. They're essentially prayers, asking Kundalini to awaken the highest spiritual quality associated with that center, such as innocence, love, truthfulness or forgiveness.
- Attention. "Where attention goes, energy flows." You gently place your attention on each chakra in turn, and allow Kundalini to follow.
- Touch. Your right hand rests lightly over each chakra. Across cultures, hands have long been used to comfort and heal; in this practice they're used to help dissolve energetic blockages.
The exact sequence, counts and affirmations are taught step by step inside the guided sessions, where you're guided in real time.
How Is the Satya Awakening Technique™ Different from Other Meditation?
The Satya Awakening Technique™ differs from other meditation in five clear ways. Many meditation styles ask you to watch your breath or observe your thoughts, and they have their own value. This practice works like this:
- It gives your mind something to do. Rather than asking you to quiet your thoughts, it has you follow a mantra, affirmations, your attention and touch, chakra by chakra. If thoughts or memories arise, you simply allow them and let them pass.
- It works directly with Kundalini and the chakras. From your very first session, the practice moves through your chakras from the base of your spine to your crown.
- Clearing comes with awakening. The technique doesn't only awaken Kundalini; it clears blockages from your chakras and channels so Kundalini has a clear path to rise.
- No forced breathing or difficult postures. You sit comfortably on a chair or cross-legged. That's it.
- It points beyond experiences. Tingling, bliss and visions can be lovely, but they're not the goal. The destination is Union with the Divine in ordinary daily life.
The Satya Awakening Technique™ isn't about forcing Kundalini to awaken. It's about gently preparing your system so that awakening can happen naturally, and safely, in its own time.
Is the Satya Awakening Technique™ the same as Kundalini Yoga?
No. Kundalini Yoga is a style of yoga using postures, breathwork and chanting. The Satya Awakening Technique™ is a seated, guided meditation using mantra, affirmations, attention and touch. Both are concerned with Kundalini, but they are different practices.

Who Is VillyMa?
VillyMa is my Guru. She is the one who taught me the Satya Awakening Technique™, and everything I share about it comes from her teaching and my own practice of it.
In her own words, her journey with meditation began in research: she took up meditation as the subject of her doctoral work, studying the changes that take place through meditation. Later she found what she describes as a very simple technique that could unlock the doors of perception, which became the Satya Awakening Technique™.
A crisis in my own life led me to VillyMa (the full story is here). She taught me a simple practice, the Satya Awakening Technique™, and I practiced it without understanding Kundalini or chakras at all.

What Does a Satya Awakening Session Feel Like?
A Satya Awakening session can feel like relaxation, stillness and peace, especially in the early sessions. You may feel tingling, warmth or a gentle pulse in your hands, at the top of your head or around your chakras. You may feel emotion rise and pass, or notice old memories surfacing.
For many people, these signs build gradually as the blockages in their chakras clear.
That's why I always say: don't measure your progress by the intensity of your experiences. If you try it, notice what happens outside your sessions instead. Are you a little calmer? Less reactive? More present with the people you love?

Who Is the Satya Awakening Technique™ For?
The Satya Awakening Technique™ is for anyone who senses there is more to life than getting through the day. It serves three kinds of people:
- The disconnected. You feel cut off from yourself, from peace and from the Divine, and you sense there's more to life than working, parenting and paying bills.
- The seeker. You've read the books, tried the practices and collected other people's experiences. Now you want one of your own.
- The one who wants to go all the way. You're not interested in a nice feeling. You want the highest state: lasting Union with the Divine.
VillyMa teaches that this practice is free of culture and religion, and that anyone at any age can practice it. You don't need any experience with meditation, yoga or Kundalini. Union with the Divine is our most natural state of being. It's not reserved for a chosen few. It's open to everyone, regardless of their religion, beliefs or background.
Where Does the Satya Awakening Technique™ Lead? From Awakening to Union
The Satya Awakening Technique™ leads, step by step, toward Union with the Divine. It is the beginning, not the whole journey. After Kundalini awakening comes a path of four stages, Awakening, Clearing, Integration and Surrender, leading to lasting Union with the Divine.
Awakening. Through the gentle, guided practice of the Satya Awakening Technique™, we gently, and safely awaken our Kundalini and begin the journey of reconnecting with the Divine.
Clearing. Working through the energetic obstructions within our chakras that limit our connection with the Divine. As these obstructions gradually clear, we experience that connection more deeply and consistently.
Integration. Bringing that spiritual connection into everyday life, so that peace, love, oneness and awareness of the Divine become more than extraordinary experiences during meditation. They begin to influence our entire experience of daily life.
Surrender. Learning to let go of the need to control or force our spiritual progress, allowing our connection with the Divine to deepen through trust, devotion and surrender.
Step by step, we continue until we ultimately reach the destination toward which the entire journey is pointing: Union with the Divine.

How Do You Start Practicing the Satya Awakening Technique™?
The simplest way to begin is with a guided session. You need a quiet place where you won't be disturbed, a comfortable chair and an open mind. If you decide to try it, approach your first sessions with curiosity rather than expectation. Don't force, don't chase, and don't compare yourself to anyone else. Practice once a day, ideally in the same spot and at about the same time.
Never force Kundalini. Gently clear your chakras, and let Kundalini awaken and rise naturally, in its own time.
I created the Kundalini Awakening Experience so you could learn the Satya Awakening Technique™ properly, from the beginning, in about 30 minutes a day. For everything else on this practice, my meditation guide brings it together.

Who teaches the Satya Awakening Technique™?
The Satya Awakening Technique™ is taught by VillyMa, Caleb O'Dowd's Guru, who describes it as a very simple technique for unlocking the doors of perception and awakening your true self. She taught it to Caleb personally, and he now shares it with sincere seekers through KundaliniAwakening.com and the Kundalini Awakening Experience.

Yes. It works directly with Kundalini and the chakras, which is what sets it apart from many other styles of meditation. It is designed to gently awaken Kundalini, clear blockages from the chakras and channels, and raise it to the crown. It is a seated, guided meditation, not Kundalini Yoga.

Is the Satya Awakening Technique™ religious?
No. VillyMa teaches it as free of culture and religion. It uses Sanskrit words like Om and Satya, but asks for no belief system. People of every faith, and people of none, can practice it. You can use whatever word feels right to you for the Divine.

Caleb
