A few years ago, I knew absolutely nothing about Kundalini. Then, on an ordinary Tuesday morning, on my walk to work, it happened to me. I never made it to the office.
This is what Kundalini awakening actually felt like for me, the experiences that commonly come with it, and the part that matters most: what happens when the feeling fades.
Maybe you're here because you've felt something you can't quite explain: tingling in your body, energy moving up your spine, sudden waves of emotion, or a peace unlike anything you've known. Maybe you've heard about Kundalini and want to know what it really feels like. Or maybe you're searching for something more: more peace, more love, a deeper connection with God.
Whatever brought you here, I'm glad you found this page. Let me show you what Kundalini awakening feels like, and then tell you exactly what it felt like for me.
What Does Kundalini Awakening Feel Like Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually?
Kundalini awakening is a profound spiritual experience. It is often felt in your body, in your emotions and, at its deepest level, as Divine love and Oneness with God and the Universe. For some, it arrives gently. For others, it arrives with intensity. Here are the experiences that come up most often, including several I've felt myself.
Physical
- Tingling or vibration. A buzzing or pulsating sensation, often in your spine, hands, the crown of your head or your whole body.
- Energy moving up the spine. A rising current, warmth or pressure that starts at the base of your spine and moves upward, sometimes gently, sometimes like an eruption.
- A warm or cool breeze. A gentle warm or cool breeze on your palms or above your head.
Emotional
- Emotional release. Sudden tears, laughter or waves of feeling that seem to come from nowhere and leave you lighter.
- Love, bliss and joy. Not love for something, but love as a state, often far bigger than anything you've felt before.
Spiritual
- Deep stillness and peace. Your mind goes quiet. Everything feels like it's exactly as it should be.
- Oneness. You see everything as one living being, manifesting itself into an infinite variety of things that look separate, but are not. Like leaves of a tree, each appears individual, yet all are intimately connected by the same source of life.
- Joy in simply being. You need nothing more than consciousness itself to feel ecstatically happy.
Some experiences are quieter, and some are uncomfortable. Confusion, intensity and a strong emotional low afterward can be part of the journey too. They were part of mine. I'll come back to that, because it's the most important part of this article.
But a list can only tell you so much. If you really want to understand what Kundalini awakening can feel like, let me tell you what happened to me.

What My Kundalini Awakening Felt Like
My Kundalini awakening began with peace. Then came an overwhelming feeling of love, followed by a bliss so intense that I couldn't keep walking to work. I spent the whole day lying under a tree in a park, completely fulfilled simply by being alive. Over the days that followed, my usual sense of being a separate person began to dissolve, and I experienced Oneness with everything around me. After several glorious days, those feelings gradually faded.
Here's how it happened. But first, you need to know where I started: a stressed, anxious entrepreneur who couldn't have told you what a chakra was. A desperate moment on my sofa, a prayer and a voice that changed the direction of my life led me to my Guru, VillyMa. I tell that part in full in my Kundalini awakening story.
VillyMa taught me a simple practice, the Satya Awakening Technique™. I had no idea what was supposed to happen, but I practiced anyway.
Then came the Tuesday.
There was nothing spiritual about the start of the day. I woke up, had breakfast, kissed my wife and my son goodbye and walked out the door. My office wasn't far away, and my walk took me through a park.
As I was walking, something began to change. I felt a deep sense of peace.
The sunshine felt beautiful.
The breeze felt beautiful.
The sound of the birds felt beautiful.
And then an enormous feeling of Love began erupting inside me. Not romantic love. Not even the love I feel for my wife or my son. This felt vastly bigger.
Eventually, I couldn't keep walking. I found a grassy spot under a tree and lay down.
I was supposed to be going to work. I never made it. I spent the whole day in that park, consumed by ecstatic bliss and pure joy.
When "Who Am I?" Stopped Having the Usual Answer
Over the days that followed, something even stranger happened. The normal boundaries around who I believed myself to be began to weaken.
Caleb. Irish. Entrepreneur. Husband. Father. My accomplishments, my failures, my history, my possessions, my desires. None of those things seemed to answer the question: Who am I?
Instead, I felt part of something immeasurably larger. There was an incredible joy in simply being conscious. I remember feeling that I could stare at a wall and be completely happy.
When I Realized Everything Was One
As the intensity of my awakening grew, I began experiencing something even more extraordinary. A profound sense of Oneness with everything in existence.
I became intensely aware that beneath everything we see—the trees, the oceans, the stars, our bodies, even the vastness of the universe—there was something connecting it all.
I experienced it as one infinite, living, conscious energy. An energy constantly moving, creating, transforming and dissolving everything in existence. Something without beginning or end. Timeless. Eternal.
And then came the most extraordinary realization of all.
I wasn't separate from this energy. I was it. And it was me.
Like individual waves rising and falling on the surface of an ocean, we appear separate, but beneath the surface, we're all part of the same infinite whole.
There was no separation. There never had been.
And what was this infinite, conscious presence that seemed to exist within everything, including me?
God. The Universe. The Divine. Whatever name you choose to give it.
For a few unforgettable days, I didn't simply believe we were all connected. I experienced that connection as the deepest truth of my existence.
What Is Kundalini, in Simple Terms?
Kundalini is the connection between you and the Divine, and understanding that explains why my awakening felt the way it did. The simplest explanation VillyMa gave me is still the one I find most useful.
Think about a lamp. The electricity exists. The lamp exists. But without a cord connecting the lamp to the electricity, there is no light.
Kundalini is the cord that connects us to the Divine. The Divine is the source. When that connection awakens, we begin to consciously experience something that was always there: the Divine, and all the peace, love, joy, bliss, stillness and oneness it has to offer us.
Kundalini and Kundalini awakening are not the same thing:
- Kundalini is the spiritual and energetic cord that connects you to the Divine.
- Kundalini awakening is what happens when that connection is established and you start to experience Union with the Divine.

What Did It Feel Like When My Kundalini Awakening Faded?
In my experience, the feelings of a Kundalini awakening last minutes, hours or days, and then they fade.
I wish I could tell you that the peace, love and bliss I experienced that Tuesday stayed with me forever. But it didn't.
And honestly, when those beautiful feelings began to fade, I was heartbroken. For a while, I genuinely believed I'd lost my chance at enlightenment.
Since that day, I've experienced many other profound moments of bliss, powerful energy rising through my spine, deep peace, Oneness and Divine Love. But none of those experiences have lasted on their own either.
For a long time, I struggled to understand why.
It was through the love and guidance of my Guru, VillyMa, that I eventually came to understand something that changed the way I saw my entire spiritual journey.
Kundalini awakening isn't the destination. It's the beginning of the journey.
Those precious experiences weren't something I was supposed to spend my life chasing. They were glimpses of what was possible, invitations to continue walking a path toward something far greater: lasting Union with the Divine.
VillyMa showed me that the Satya Awakening Technique™ she'd taught me was the first step of a complete spiritual path, the Satya Awakening System™: four stages, Awakening, Clearing, Integration and Surrender, leading to lasting Union with the Divine.
Awakening
You begin to consciously feel your Kundalini and experience your connection with the Divine.
Clearing
Chakra by chakra, channel by channel, the blockages that interrupt your connection are gently cleared.
Integration
The connection is carried out of quiet moments and into your ordinary daily life.
Surrender
Letting go of the desire to “achieve” Union, and allowing the Divine state to become natural.
Union
The destination: living from a lasting, natural connection with the Divine.
And once I understood that, the sadness I'd felt began to give way to something wonderful. Hope. Gratitude. And a deeper desire than ever to continue my journey.
My awakening wasn't something I'd lost. It was the beginning of a journey I could continue every single day.
If you're experiencing that same sadness or confusion after an awakening, I've written more about what helped me understand it, and what comes next: What Happens After a Kundalini Awakening?.
Why Does the Way You Awaken Kundalini Matter?
The way you awaken your Kundalini makes an enormous difference to the experience.
One of the most important things my Guru, VillyMa, taught me is that the secret to a gentle, beautiful Kundalini awakening lies in preparing your energy system before awakening occurs.
And the key to that preparation is clearing the energetic blockages within your chakras.
When Kundalini awakens, it begins rising through the spine. If it encounters blockages along the way, the experience can become intense, uncomfortable or overwhelming. This is why trying to force Kundalini to awaken before your chakras are sufficiently clear is something I strongly discourage.
The Satya Awakening Technique™ takes a completely different approach. Rather than forcing Kundalini upward, we focus on gently clearing the chakras, creating the conditions for Kundalini to awaken naturally, in its own time.
The goal isn't to force an extraordinary experience. It's to prepare yourself for a gentle, peaceful and beautiful awakening.

Is Union With the Divine Only for Saints and Yogis?
Absolutely not. And this was one of the most wonderful things my Guru, VillyMa, helped me understand.
Before meeting her, I believed enlightenment was reserved for special people. The Buddha. Saints. Mystics. Yogis meditating in caves. Certainly not ordinary people like me, with businesses to run, bills to pay, and a family to look after.
But VillyMa taught me something that completely changed how I saw our human potential.
Union with the Divine is our most natural state of being. It's not reserved for a chosen few. It's open to everyone, regardless of their religion, beliefs or background.
Our entire energy system—our Kundalini, chakras and energetic channels—is designed to support this connection.
A car is built to drive. A bird is built to fly. And we are built for Union with the Divine.
We haven't lost our ability to experience it. We've simply forgotten how to return to it.
And that's why I no longer see Kundalini awakening as the destination. I see it as the beginning of a wonderful journey toward something far greater: living in Union with the Divine, experiencing its love, peace, bliss and joy as a natural part of everyday life.
Not just during meditation or extraordinary spiritual experiences, but while walking through a park, working, eating dinner with your family, playing with your children, or simply washing the dishes.
Because the Divine isn't somewhere we need to escape our ordinary lives to find. It's already here, waiting to be discovered within us.
Is Reading About Kundalini Enough?
Reading can help you understand Kundalini, but understanding Kundalini is not the same as experiencing it. That's why I created KundaliniAwakening.com. I don't want it to become another website where you read hundreds of pages about spirituality while nothing in your experience changes.
I share what VillyMa taught me and what years of practicing the Satya Awakening System™ have taught me: Kundalini, the chakras, awakening, self-realization and Union, explained clearly and honestly.
Most of all, I want to help you feel the difference between reading about Kundalini and experiencing it. Because eventually, reading can only take you so far. If you'd like to begin, I've laid out the first steps in How to Awaken Kundalini. When you're ready to practice with me guiding you, the Kundalini Awakening Experience is where I recommend everyone starts.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my Kundalini is awakening?
The clearest signs are tingling or vibration in your hands, spine or the top of your head, warmth or coolness, energy rising, emotions releasing for no clear reason, and deep stillness or waves of peace and love. If nothing dramatic happens, that's okay. Never measure your progress by the intensity of your experiences.
How long does a Kundalini awakening experience last?
Individual experiences can last minutes, hours or longer. My Tuesday in the park lasted almost an entire week. None of mine have lasted on their own, though. Over time, the work of clearing and integration is what helps that connection become steady and part of your everyday life, not just a rare moment.
What is a Kundalini experience?
A Kundalini experience is a moment when you consciously feel your connection with the Divine. It can be subtle, like tingling, a cool or warm breeze on your palms or above your head, or simple stillness. It can also be profound: love, bliss or oneness. Each one is a glimpse of the connection, not the destination.
Is Kundalini awakening the same as spiritual awakening?
They're closely related, but not exactly the same. Spiritual awakening is a broad term describing a profound shift in how you experience yourself, life and your connection with something greater. Kundalini awakening is more specific: it involves the awakening of the spiritual energy that connects us to the Divine. Within the Satya Awakening System™, Kundalini awakening is the first stage of a much deeper journey toward lasting Union with the Divine.
Do I need a teacher to awaken Kundalini?
I strongly believe that for most people, learning from an experienced teacher who has awakened their own Kundalini is essential. Kundalini awakening is a profound spiritual experience, and having someone guide you who has personally walked this path can make an enormous difference.
Equally important is following a proven, structured technique that prepares your energy system gently, rather than attempting to force an awakening.
I experienced this firsthand with my Guru, VillyMa. Her guidance and the Satya Awakening Technique™ gave me a clear path to follow, helped me understand what I was experiencing, and taught me how to continue deepening my connection with the Divine.
My advice is simple: Don't try to figure it all out on your own. Find a teacher who has experienced Kundalini awakening personally, and follow a gentle, well-established technique that you can trust.
With love,
Caleb
