London Seminar Location 12/20/2009
Sorry for the delays around finalising the location for the KAP London Seminar. This post should help you find your way to University London College (UCL) campus where the course will be held. First off, this is the Google Map location: http://tinyurl.com/y8elequ UCL is located a walking distance away from two major transport hubs in London, Euston Railway station (North 5 mins), and King’s Cross St.Pancras (North East 10 mins). Whether arriving by airport, or directly by train, it makes the most sense to avail of these two hubs. Hotels Around this area, you are really spoiled for choice. For the person who doesn't mind spending a fair whack, there is the Radisson and a number of others. However, for the more price conscientious, check the link out below: http://www.londontoolkit.com/accommodation/bed_breakfast_cheap.htm If a lot of people are coming over then email me individually and I'll see if I can get a group discount or something to that effect. Driving Driving is not recommended as traffic in central London at the weekend is horrendous, and find a parking space is difficult. This is added to the £2 per hour or so charge. Bus Depending on where you are located, grabbing a bus makes a lot of sense. London has a lot of bus lanes and this allows the buses to get around fairly efficiently. There is no readily available online bus guide as there are so many! Best bet is let me know where you are based and I’ll see what I can find out from locals. Tube This is without a doubt the quickest, easiest and most convenient way to get around London. Euston Square tube station is 1 min away from the entrance to UCL (Gower Street). The good news is, you can get an Oyster card, or travel card, which will allow you to travel to and from wherever you need. I have enclosed some links on the difference between the two, and the opportunity to buy them in advance. I recommend going with the Oyster card, as it’s a pay as you go top up card that can be used in any tube/bus as well as Overground rail. Oyster card: http://visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk/english/introduction.htm Airports/Trains I am working on this piece, but suffice to say, there are links from all the major London airports. Here is a quick link while I digest some other stuff: http://www.londontoolkit.com/accommodation/euston_transfers.htm Plus for Kings Cross: http://www.londontoolkit.com/accommodation/kings_cross_transfers.htm Finally some info on the campus and its history. it really is a beautiful area so we are in for a real treat... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UCL_Main_Building Please don't hesitate to ask any questions, I'll do my very best to help you out.
